Serving God

What god are you serving?

Apostle Tracey Robinson

  • The Word of God is God.
  • To study the Word of God is to know who God is.
  • To know if you are serving God in spirit and in truth is to know Him in His Word.

St John 1:1-2 1 IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.

Means and the Ends

  • When we sing and it is more important to you than to the one you’re singing to, then your entire worship experience is aborted.
  • This is what we mean by the “means and ends”.
  • The “song is the means” and “God is the end”.

The Process and the Purpose

  • The process of singing should take us to “purpose”, but never become the purpose itself.
  • Many of us are worshippers of the “process” and the process has become the “purpose”.
  • Because we really know so little about the Spirit of God through His Word in Spirit and in Truth, it is hard to identify with Him and His Will any other way than just a “formatted process” with that process becoming our purpose for worship.
  • Here is an example of the “process becoming your purpose”. “I’ve already paid my tithes” “I’m not going to the House of Prayer today, because I don’t “feel” like going today” “I went to church for the past 3 months straight already” “I need a break”.
  • These ideals are what we think and consider as the purpose, that which we have already done.
  • This process is the purpose whether the presence of God was there or not; or whether I could sense His presence; or if I got a touch from Him today; etc.
  • What is important is that we go through or have gone through this process? Whatever the process is, whether it is: praise and worship; shouting; giving testimonies; taking up offering; making announcements; singing a few songs; then preach the Word?
  • We are happy that we sat through this for how long it takes, whether God the purpose showed up or not.
  • We have become so formatted with the process that it doesn’t matter whether God shows up or not. It does not matter whether I get my deliverance I so desperately need or not. “I’m just enduring the process!”
  • So the process becomes the purpose for my coming on Wednesday’s and Sunday’s.
  • When the process has become more important than the purpose then the spirit of Idolatry has been created and is on board.
  • You can never satisfy the purpose through the process, without the Spirit of the purpose.
  • There is no way to get in God or pass God without God!
  • The process has a purpose! The purpose has to be in you to conduct the process in spirit and in truth.
  • So you say you’re serving God, what god?

The spirit of Idolatry

  • Idolatry is anything made more worthy than God in your heart.

Isaiah 44:9-10 9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. 10 Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

  • God is saying the things that we make idols are nothing, and the things we treasure are worthless.
  • Anything that we believe is more valuable than God is an idol, and is worthless!
  • The source of idolatry is….

When we put more worth on the “means” than on the “ends”; then the “means” become and “idol”?

Whatever you put more “worship” on it becomes the idol?

Whether it is a dance, singing, time, your husband, wife, children, cars, your jobs, money, homes, your looks, etc.!

When you become so occupied with how well you do, your gifts, your talents; but never give it to God it is an idol.

  • Any other worship other than God is idolatry!

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Worshipping God

  • God detests idolatry.
  • God must be the ends.
  • God must be the purpose.
  • Spiritual worship is required in you in order for God to become the ends and the purpose in you.
  • The devil really is having a “hay day” because most believers don’t even have the power to give God “authentic authority” to come into the earth realm through them because of the process and purpose, the means and the ends are wrong, mixed up, or confused.
  • Authentic means being of undisputed origin; genuine.
  • Authority meaning the power or rights to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience.

St John 3:23-24 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

  • The Father is seeking such to worship Him.
  • The scripture says that the Father seeks such to worship Him, meaning worship is not anything we can do or orchestrate, but the Father must seek, find, and initiate worship for Himself in you.
  • To worship God we must worship Him in spirit and in truth that is in our spirit in sincerity and in truth.

  • The word “worth” is the root word to the same as “worship”.
  • Worship is determined by worth”.
  • You can never worship what does not have worth to you. So anything that becomes more worthy than it’s worth has become or is an idol.
  • Worship means to make obeisance (deferential respect); do reverence to, towards, and to kiss to God

1 Corinthians 14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

  • Worship means to revere (deep respect or admiration for), stressing the feeling of awe or devotion to God.
  • Worshipping God is nowhere defined as in “how to worship God” in the Scriptures.
  • Worship is initiated from the Spirit of God into the depths of the spirit man.
  • This is me talking, I do believe whole heartedly that worship is stimulated by praise; and praise will usher you into the Presence of the Lord for Him to decide whether He desires worship from your spirit.

Praise

  • Praise is not only just a physical demonstration of God’s worth to us animated, but is also spiritual!
  • Praise is represented as a sacrificial offering of yourself to the Lord in Spirit and in Truth.
  • Praise denotes God’s approval, His commendation used on account of, by reason of, or of whom as His heritage.
  • Praise represents God’s own possession of the Church, in reference to the glory of His grace towards us. Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.
  • Praise ascribes (to attribute something to a cause) to God in respect of His glory; His character; and His operations. Ephesians 1:12 That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ.
  • Praise will be exactly in accordance with each person’s actions; as in the issue of present trials at the revelation of Jesus The Christ in the midst of your test, trials, tribulations, sufferings, and sacrifices.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ

.

  • God is worthy of worship because of His worth! His worth is immeasurable to the spirit man.
  • So when we sing and make it more about the song, and your voice; then who the song is to and about is idolatry.
  • So when we pray and get so preoccupied over the words of your prayer, the length of your prayers, than to who we are praying to, God, ignores the prayer, because the object or activity of the prayer has become more important than the subject or goal of the prayer.
  • The spirit of idolatry is always around trying to creep in so you must keep yourselves; keep monitoring not what you’re doing but who you’re doing it too.
  • The way we show God and tell God that we hate Him is by putting worth on anything else that we consider is more worthy than Him.

Exodus 20:3-6

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Deuteronomy 6:5-6

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart.

  • Don’t let anything come between you and God!
  • It is dangerous and will be detrimental to you and even to your children’s children.

Amen, this is the Word of the Lord for this House!

Worshipping God and not the process to worship God

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

  • Worship is difficult! It is not a simple process.
  • We as humans are worshipping spirit beings and if we don’t worship God, the Creator we will worship someone or something.

  • Without God we will always pursue something or someone as an antidote to our emptiness, our insufficiencies by looking for a meaningful fulfillment for satisfaction and pleasures.
  • The truth is that God created the spirit man in His own image (meaning His spiritual nature, moral character, and qualities), after their likeness (means to function like) (Genesis 1:26-27).
  • Our Supreme fulfillment, as spirit beings in a dirt body made in the image of God is found and expressed in actively worshipping our Holy Creator and not the creation. In other words, it is in us to worship the Creator! Our fulfillment is only in worship!

  • Whatever has been valued at having more worth than God is idolatry?

  • Why is idolatry detested by the Lord? Idolatry makes false statements, lies about the nature and character of God. It proclaims the things of God to be false. It recreates God in the image of man by diminishing Him; emptiness of His glory’ of His transcendence.
  • Anything more important to you than God or anything that absorbs your heart and imagination is an idol detested by the God.

  • When we pursue idols we pursue things that are worthless, that will never satisfy, and things that would stop us from pursuing the one and the only thing that can bring full and permanent satisfaction.

  • God is never jealous about anything but one thing – idolatry, because everything that we got, possesses, or can inherit belongs to the Lord anyway. Therefore, He is not jealous of any of that.

  • Idolatry, the sin of the mind (heart) against God, Romans 1:22-25; Ephesians 2:3; and immorality; sins of the flesh, are all associated and traced back to a lack of the acknowledgment of God and of gratitude to Him.
  • An idolater is a turning away from God to idolatry, whether it is openly or secretly, consciously or unconsciously.
  • An idolater is a slave to the depraved ideas his idols represented and thereby to divers’ lust, Titus 3:3.

Galatians 4:8-9 8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. 9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

The Challenge of the Creation verses the Creator

  • It is tough trying to spend hours of your time trying to seek God, figure out God, understand God, love God, and can’t even find God.
  • God the Father seeks such a one to worship Him. He seeks!
  • One thing that will attract God is “one accord”, where everyone is on the same page. Oneness attracts God!

Psalm 63:1-2 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

  • When the creation becomes more important than the Creator, the result is misplaced worship and the creation of idolatry.
  • The greatest temptation in human experience is the elevation of, the distraction by, and pre-occupation with the creation more than the Creator.
  • When God blesses you to make you rich don’t forget Him, because your battle is between the creation and the Creator.

  • Worship is not something that we should struggle to do!
  • The reason we don’t worship and praise God is because we don’t connect the Source with the resource.

  • Your idols have mouths and cannot speak; idols with feet and cannot walk. Whatever they do God is the one that make them do, and then we forget about Him.
  • The Source is more important than the resource! We should never pre-occupy ourselves with the resource at the expense of the Source.
  • We must constantly acknowledge the Source and thank the Source for the resource.

  • Praise leaders have been raised up to force people to praise God, because people come to the sanctuary without a testimony, without a song, without a tune, without praise on their lips.
  • What or who is your idol?
  • When the connection is made between the Source with the resource then you will testify, sing songs, praise all the time, and His praise will continually be in your mouth.

The only way this will happen is when you have this consciousness that everything I am, everything I have, and everything I will ever have and possess is the Lord’s.

Praise is a natural result of the awareness of the Source of the resource that you have.

When we acknowledge the Source worship begins in us.

Worship begins with acknowledgement.

Singing and clapping is not worship!

Only what you know about God will determine how much you will worship God.

You cannot worship beyond your knowledge!

  • This is why God will allow us to keep going through difficult times, not to hurt or harm us, but “to keep introducing Himself to us in knowledge” at different levels, through the different ways of being tried.
  • God will allow us to go through difficulties so we will have more material to worship Him with.
  • God takes us through experiences to introduce Himself to us, so we can have more material to give Him more worth.
  • The greater the test, trial, tribulation, etc. God brings us through “the more value you put on Him”, not just the fact that He brought you out, but you would value Him more over what He did.
  • This is why we cannot worship God over what we know!
  • “Knowing” has to be an encounter.
  • The “value” of your God is determined by the “knowledge” of your God.
  • We put false value on idols, something that cannot live or perform.
  • Elijah told them to bring all their gods and build an altar for them and one for him, and put plenty of water on mine. I will show them that their god cannot perform.
  • The problem with most worshippers is that they forget His benefits” because they forget Him in the process of benefits.
  • Worship has to come from your experience with your knowledge of God.
  • When God calls you out, He is calling you to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
  • To worship is to acknowledge Him as being your Source.
  • There is a danger to the one that tries to stop God’s called and chosen from serving, praising, and worshipping Him.
  • Exodus 4:22-23

22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

  • To worship you must go backwards first and remember His benefits before you can genuinely worship God.

  • Here is a special note: The closer you get to God the “less leverage” you have with Him.

  • What does this mean? Remember when God told Moses in Numbers 20:7-12 to take his rod gather the people together and Aaron his brother and speak to the rock before them and it shall give forth water for the congregation and the beast to drink. And Moses took the rod before the Lord just as God had spoken, gathered the congregation together before the rock and call the people rebels, saying must we fetch you water out of this rock? Moses lifted up his hand and with his rod he hit the rock twice, and the water came out and the congregation and their beast drank.
  • In verse 12 God spoke to Moses and Aaron saying because of your unbelief (but it looks like God was talking to them both) and he did not sanctify the Lord in the eyes of the children of Israel, he will not bring them into the promise land which He had given them.
  • Moses was too close to God to do something God did not tell him to do.
  • Moses had to room for error. He had no sacrifices to offer God for his unwillingness to do things God’s way.
  • The fear of God is not just being afraid of God or reverential respect and love for Him; but it is to also be aware of God and how dangerous it is to get close to Him, because getting close to God leaves no room for maneuvering, a partial way of doing, accidents, compromise, errors, etc.
  • The Lord is very specific in what He says and what He has instructed you to do.
  • You don’t need anyone to judge you when you’re close to God, because God does it Himself.

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

  • The battle of creation verses Creator is your houses, land, money, self, etc. being made an idol.
  • God the Creator is more than the creation!
  • When the creation becomes more important than the Creator the result is misplaced worship and the creation of idolatry.
  • The greatest temptation in human experiences is the “elevation of, the distraction by, and the preoccupation with the creation” more than the Creator.
  • The value of things is summed up in the manufacturers of that thing.
  • The Source is more important than the resource.
  • When we began to acknowledge the Source out of the knowledge experienced then we begin to worship.

  • Worship does not begin or end with singing, dancing, or playing music.
  • True worship began when we acknowledge our souls Source.
  • David said, “I will bless the Lord, Oh my soul. His praise shall continually be in my mouth”. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. Psalm 34:1-2

  • When we place a higher value on a T.V. show that you don’t want to miss, it has become an idol.

  • Again, worship means “worth”, “to esteem with worth”, “to honor”, “to place highest value on”.

  • Worship is to “bow down”, “to acknowledge in all things”, “to blow kisses”, “perpetual gratitude” (perpetual means all the time, constantly, everywhere all the time).
  • Worship is to lay prostrate, to mingle, and to surrender you.
  • Whatever styles the Spirit of God requires you to do, do it in quietness.
  • Worship is private, deep intermingling with the Spirit of God.

  • The loud noises of praise are a sign that we are not close yet to the Spirit.
  • The louder your praise is proof that you are farther away than you think from entering into the “inner chamber” where there is no talking going on. This is where you surrender yourself!

PRAISE

  • The highest level of praise in the Hebrew word is “tehillah” meaning “spirit song”.
  • Tehillah is not a song you sing to Him, but it’s a song He begins to sing with you. It’s a spirit song!
  • Barak is always before Tehillah in the ascending praise.
  • Barak in Hebrew is the sixth (6th) level praise.
  • Barak means be quiet.

Lower levels of praise are:

  • *Hallal means to jump around while making noise

*Shabach means to shout

  • The higher you get the quieter you get because you are entering into His Chamber where the Lord is intimate with you and He does not want to talk.
  • Barak, the Lord is in His Holy Temple! Let all the earth keep silent!
  • When He shows up He is coming for intimacy.

  • When you leave His Chambers you leave quietly, not dancing when you have had a chamber experience with the Spirit of God. You go out pregnant!
  • You can never experience the intimacy of the Spirit of God and become impregnated from the outer courts.
  • In the outer courts we just flirt with God!

  • Praise describes God! Describe is praise!
  • Worship is surrender to God!
  • Worship is intimacy with God!
  • Worship ascribes Ascribe is to worship! To ascribe credit all things to!

  • When you describe someone you talk about them.
  • When you ascribe to is where worship begins.
  • Worship begins when I finally figure out everything is His, belongs to Him.

  • Ascribe to is the key to understanding worship, because when you ascribe to someone you are giving them credit.
  • When you describe someone you are telling them how they look or how they are.
  • For example, great is the Lord!! That is not worship that is description!
  • Oh Lord, you are beautiful! This is not worship that is description!
  • To say the Lord is powerful! That is not worship that is description!
  • Thou art awesome! Thou art worthy! Thou art Holy! This is still praise, not worship!

  • Praise is what we do, but worship is what God receives, allows, and accepts. When we understand this we will understand humility.
  • Anyone or anything we ascribe to, and receive it, allow it, and accept it they are competing with God. They are in immediate danger!

  • Daniel 4, King Nebauchnezzar, God made him a king and blessed his kingdom. He began to think it was him. He started to thinking he was God.
  • Read this chapter on how God humbled king Nebuchadnezzar for 7 years to know that the Most High rules and reign in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whosoever He Will. Then the Lord God gave him back understanding and he began to bless the Lord; praise and honor the Lord God that lives forever and ever; and whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation from generation.
  • King Nebauchnezzer’s testimony in verse 37 says Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and His ways judgment: and those that walk in pride He is able to abase.
  • It is okay for people to praise you but don’t receive it and don’t accept it, but keep passing it on to the Lord. That is worship!

  • You always read where Jesus kept transferring all the CREDIT to God by saying I can only do what I see My Father do. My Father is the one that do the work. This protected Jesus and kept Him in the power of God.
  • The power flow is tied into the CREDIT transferred! In other words, who is getting the credit for the power flowing.
  • The danger of success is for me to receive the credit and allowing others to give it to me, and accept it as though I deserve it. I am now in trouble with God because the people are now worshipping me.

  • Worship is only possible through the knowledge of the one worshipped.
  • You cannot worship beyond what you know about a person.
  • We end up worshipping things and stuff because we know our talent real good, we know what we are capable of doing once trained; but we don’t know the God that gave us the talents and or the capability to be trained to become skilled in what you know how to do.
  • This is why God permits us to go through so that our experiences of Him will give us more material to worship Him with.
  • When we go through the fires and the floods of our life’s choices and their consequences, we should learn to ascribe to God as He allows us to go through these difficulties for us to KNOW Him in a new way, a greater way.
  • Worship is only reserved for the Lord! That is the key to worship, He is Lord.
  • Worship is the acknowledgement and the ascribing of all things and everything to the Source.
  • Worship is the revelation of the Source of creation.
  • True worship does not have to be generated by man.
  • True worship is a result of something; a result of a revelation of knowledge that we understand who the Source of everything is created.

Amen

Closing out our study on Worship

Why worship God?

Psalm 24:1-3

1 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For He hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of His salvation.

Psalm 37:1 FRET not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

  • Worshippers live in a happy state of godliness.

Why does God want worship from His people?

The Lord wants His people to be “free” to worship Him without the cares of this world and the bondage of their idols.

Just as He used Moses to tell Pharaoh to “let My people go”.

Exodus 5:1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto Me in the wilderness.

Romans 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Now that I know from the scripture in Genesis 3:5, 22 that I am a god too, why should I worship God? This is all I can give God if He need me to worship Him!

The opposite of worship is:

  • Lack of gratitude
  • Self-praise where you take all the credit for all
  • Self-credit where you tell the world it is you that brought you this far. For example, “I am a self-made millionaire”.
  • Selfish pride says “It’s all about me”.
  • Self-worship is what made Lucifer get kicked out of Heaven. Lucifer was in charge of worship.

Job 1:21 Job said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither; the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

When Job was going through he fell to the ground and worshipped God. And in all Job sinned not, nor did he charge God foolishly for anything.

God means “self-sustaining One”.

God is the Supreme Owner of everything.

To blow Him a kiss means “I totally depend on you”.

The angels totally bow to God, because they have the revelation of who is sitting on the Throne. They that in Him they move, they breathe, and have their being.

We are trying to get there and stay there!

When we get this revelation of the Source there will be a consciousness of constant thanksgiving. Your praise will be continually!

Why? Because I understand where it all comes from, that is the Source. I don’t need a worship leader!

I understand that everything I am and will ever be belongs to God.

The more gratitude – the more increase of your latitude – which improves my altitude.

It is when we get close to God that He starts giving us stuff!

  • Worshipping God and He will give us Exodus 23:24-27

24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

25 And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill.

27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

The Holy Ghost is given to us to keep us in the way of the Lord God.

Denouncing idolatry by allowing God to cleanse our hearts of it and get rid of the things/stuff that so easily put us in the flesh and pumped up with pride.

Worship is relationship and gives us divine protection, causing God to be an enemy to our enemies.

There is no way to be a worshipper and can’t hear and obey the voice of God!

As a worshipper God will cut off those wicked ones; health is promised; longevity is promised.

Long life is tied to gratitude. So keep transferring all the CREDIT to God and you will keep being blessed.

  • Worship is a natural response to an understanding of the Source of all things.

  • Worship is the total transfer of all the CREDIT to my SUPREME SOURCE, who is the owner of all things and everything.

  • Worship is not singing and dancing around, that is praise!

  • Worship is surrendering all to God, holding nothing back.

What do I use to worship? What material do I need to worship? What do I bring to worship?

  • Worship must be the result of whatever God is asking you for. Whatever He wants?
  • As the Creator of worship He has the right to ask for anything He wants from us in worship. Why? Because He owns everything.
  • If He tells you to serenade Him in dance, then you dance.
  • If He tells you to roll on the floor or jump up and down, then you roll and jump.
  • Whatever He tells you to do, do it?

St John 2:5 Just as the mother of Jesus would say, “whatsoever He saith unto you, do it”.

  • Worship is acknowledging TOTAL DEPENDENCY on God.
  • Jesus understood worship. St Matthew 4:8 Satan was saying to God, “I’m going to give you everything of my kingdom if you worship me”.
  • How can Satan give to God what is already God’s?
  • Only the owner deserves worship!
  • When anyone in your life wants to compete with God in your heart, in your life they are asking to become an idol and you should worship them/it.
  • Worship is an act of the Will to do!

Amen
