Leaving the basic principles of the doctrine of Christ to now seek being Christ-like

Hebrews 6:1-3 tells us to leave the basics of the doctrine of Christ Jesus, that is, His beginnings of His birth, burial, and resurrection to strongly urge you, encourage you, and incite you to move forward into the spiritual progression of becoming a Son of God.

In other words God commands the believers to grow, leaving the elementary stages of teachings and doctrines about Christ Jesus to advance steadily toward the completeness and perfection that brings and gives spiritual maturity.

Tradition and religion keeps believers in the basics of the doctrine of Christ Jesus by telling Bible story’s to the believers and never able to tell how the Word of God has transformed them and is taking them higher in spiritual progression.

Verses 1 & 2 tell us of the basics that only keep causing us to produce dead works that cause us to have a form of godliness that denies the actual power of God. The Word tells us that “these things are all matters that we should be or have been fully award of long time ago”.

We should possess the ability to do greater works not dead works.

What are dead works? Dead works are: works of your hands; works of self-righteousness; deeds and actions that violate or break the Laws of God; works of the flesh are dead works; works that deserve death to those that are dead in trespasses, dead in sins, and dead by sentences of the Law; and repentance from acts that lead to death.

Godly works are deeds and actions that God accepts. For example, the results of faith; obedience; living the commandments of God throughout His Word; letting your light so shine; the fruit of the Spirit; etc.

In verse 3 tells us “if God permits, we will now move on to advanced teachings”. God has to permit the believer to move forward in Him. You don’t grow if God does not permit!

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

The fruit of the Spirit is to give the believer that Christlikeness that God requires. God must see His Son Jesus when He looks at us, and nothing else! Being born in Christlikeness is what causes God to look at us.

The fruit of the Spirit is what makes us Christlikeness in the earth. It is the character of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 1:4

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Note: Not approved blameless before husband, wife, children, friends, co-workers, supervisors, etc. but before God in the earth.

5 Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, God can only be pleased with you when you’re doing His Will, not “trying” but doing His Will.

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

2 Thessalonians 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Note: Here is proof that the Spirit must possess you as a believer! That is the manifestation of it in you in the earth.

Galatians 5:2-7

2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. Circumcised her is referring to the natural!

3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

Christlikeness produces Sons of God and the Spirit itself that dwells in you bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

Philippians 2:15

15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

Is your light shining?

Romans 8:14, 16-17

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ: if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Sons are children, spiritual heirs through a spiritual relationship with God. By faith we have become a spiritual heir of Abraham’s seed faith and heirs to the promise.

Galatians 3:29

29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Abraham was known as the father of faith, and we have that inheritance if we are of Christ; and to be of Christ we must suffer for His namesake to reign with Him. 2 Timothy 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Romans 9:26

26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

The mind of Christ

The believer striving to be Christ like must have a spiritual mind. The mind of Christ is that spiritual mind that exemplifies in earth examples of love, unity, and humility being shown toward one another.

Philippians 2:1-8

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

The mind of Christ destroys the believer’s way of being selfish and self-righteous. The mind of Christ in a believer will cause you to forget self.

It is through the Holy Ghost that the believer’s faculties are renewed to aid and assist into bringing them into the Christlikeness of Christ Jesus in the earth, by giving and portraying the mind of the Spirit.

This mind gives believers and understanding that leads to the right actions in prudence.
